Gmail Goes Offline Finally

Awaited by many Gmail finally goes offline with an offline synchronization feature that so far, has worked well for me and our companies Gmail accounts.

Using Google Gears, an add-on tool that allows approved third party developed applications to work together with Google and your browser to deliver better speed and utilities. Then, when you connect with your account online, it quietly synchronizes and backs up your e-mail onto your desktop computer or laptop. Working with e-mail, writing and reading your old e-mail while not connected to the Internet is a breeze, and the next time you connect with an Internet connection it updates, sends and receives any new e-mail.

Many of our clients have told us they hang onto Microsoft Outlook because of it’s offline abilities as well as it’s seamless (sic)  synchronizing for redundancy purposes and to have the required corporate back-up.

Now with this simple Gmail addition I bet a number of  users will abandon Outlook entirely within the year.
